KC PET PROJECT NEEDS HELP WITH MEGA MATCH-A-THON

Fall is here and with that comes one of the more bigger events over at the KC Pet Project — the ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon Adoption Drive.

This will be the second annual collaboration among three Greater Kansas City Area animal shelters — Great Plains SPCA, KC Pet Project and Wayside Waifs — who will be working together to find homes for 700 homeless pets, all in a single weekend. Each shelter will receive funding from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) as part of the organization’s national Mega Match-a-thon effort taking place in October.

During the event, which will go on at all three separate shelters, adoptable pets will be available for $25 according to the KCPP website. As part of the adoption each pet will receive spay/neuter surgery, age appropriate vaccinations, collar and permanent microchip identification. Click here for more information.

The adoption drive will span over three days: Friday, Oct. 18 from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 20 from 12-6 p.m. And throughout that, a plethora of volunteers will be needed. From grounds keeping to greeters to walkers to playgroups, the call for help is great.

So, if you could spare an hour or two over this third weekend of October, contact us at[email protected]. Please note that to handle the animals at this event, you will need to complete KCPP’s orientation before hand, which we can schedule also for you.
