Easter Seals Midwest seeking help for Walk With Me fundraiser

WRITTEN BY HEATHER LANGE

For five decades, our parents and grandparents grew up hearing about Easter Seals, but did they know exactly what they did?

Easter Seals Midwest helps individuals with disabilities – including autism – to learn, live, work and participate in their communities. They provide assistance to a wide range of developmental impairments that are a result of birth condition, injury or illness in children, adults and even veterans. Easter Seals programs connect people who are living with disabilities to those who care. Every year, they host Walk With Me – a run/walk to raise awareness for the organization. Individuals and groups join together to walk for a friend or family member.

In 12 years, over 150,000 people have participated in Walk With Me events all over the country. They have raised over $30 million, which allows them to provide assistance to those living with disabilities and their families.

This year, Easter Seals Midwest is holding their annual walk at Macken Park in North Kansas City on September 12. In order to make this a successful event, they need volunteers to help set-up and take down, handle registration and cheer on the participants. If you’d like to be a part of this special day, please contact us at [email protected].
