Keep the Community Warm this Socktober!

With the weather starting to have a fall crisp to it, UKC is getting ready for one our favorite drives that we’ve been doing for 12 years — Socktober. As the month begins to get cooler, it be the start of an especially difficult time for those who are facing homelessness or home insecurity.

Socktober is an annual, national drive throughout October to collect new socks and other essential winter items that are donated to local shelters to help some of the most vulnerable in our community. If you’ve been looking for a way to connect with your community on a deeper level, Socktober is the perfect opportunity.

Getting started is easy — use the sign-up below with your friends, family, coworkers or neighbors and then begin collecting new socks and any other essential winter items throughout the month of October. When the month ends, Uncover KC will reach out to take care of picking up the items and delivering them to a local nonprofit. This is a great way to make a local impact with your loved ones.
