Our Real World Learning initiatives provide students authentic experiences that grow their curiosity while also developing skills they can use in the future. These efforts encourage students to engage with local causes, find their personal passions, and explore nonprofit career and college pathways.

Career Exploration

With a focus on college and career readiness, onsite events and speaking engagements help students identify potential careers in the nonprofit sector, explore their passions, and gain exposure to community resources.

Client Connected & Service Learning Projects

From inside the classroom, students design and complete projects to help assist with real nonprofit issues. These efforts require critical thinking, leadership skills and creativeness, all while volunteering.

Student Internships

Nonprofits provide impactful internships for students to improve their professionalism, communication skills, and work force development. They also learn about individual passions and nonprofit career pathways.

Field Trips & Volunteer Outings

Meaningful, out-of-classroom learning experiences that foster deeper civic engagement — such as field trips and volunteer outings — can be curated through our partner program, KC Field Trips.

Educator Externships

Customized professional development experiences that give educators practical strategies, community connections and lesson ideas to inspire student engagement and genuine impact.
