Lifting Spirits with Holiday Volunteering
The holidays are all about spreading joy and lifting the spirits of others. What a better way to join in on the festivities than by engaging in holiday volunteer opportunities to give back to those who may be struggling this winter. Uncover KC has a number of holiday events just waiting for volunteers to lend a hand–
Trunk with Treats with The Hope Center
The Hope Center works to embody the power of community and the promise of possibility. Hope Center is ready to celebrate the Halloween Spirit with their “Trunk with Treats” event. Volunteers are welcome to support the free community-wide celebration Trunk with Treats, expected to draw around 1,000 attendees. It’s a safe, welcoming space for youth and families to gather and have fun. Volunteers will have the opportunity to set-up/take-down, support trunk or treat efforts, handout candy, and additional opportunities.
Give Joy with FosterAdopt Connect
FosterAdopt Connect works to provide support and empower foster children, their families, and alumni impacted by the foster child welfare system. This winter, from November ninth through December fifth, FosterAdopt Connect is celebrating the holidays by giving back to the kids in foster care. With the generosity of donors, FosterAdopt Connect is able to fulfill children’s wish lists and provide happier childhoods. Volunteers can give back by unloading donations, sorting gifts, check-in aid, processing support, and so much more to give foster children a merry Christmas.
Mayor’s Holiday Festival with Downtown Overland Park
The Downtown Overland Park area is known for its strong community and thriving farmer’s market – as well as great food, the arts, and friendly local businesses lining the walkable streets. As a part of the holiday festivities, the town will be lit up with activities for all to enjoy. Volunteers are encouraged to support the free activities such as arts & crafts, kids train rides, meet and greet with Santa, the Grinch and more. This is a great way to get an early start on your holiday shopping and watch the Mayor flip the lights on the tree.
With the aid of volunteers like you, this holiday season may become a special one to remember. Help make the holidays special for the KC community every year with nothing but your time and a smiling face. Find more holiday volunteer opportunities and beyond at the UKC event calendar.
