Catholic Charities ReConnect Refugee Youth Mentoring
The mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas is to serve our neighbors, of all faiths, through help, hope and hospitality. They provide over 30 programs to help strengthen the community with three main pillars: Family Strengthening, Family Stabilization and Respect Life Services.
The ReConnect Refugee Youth Mentoring program helps mentor a newcomer youth in the Wyandotte and Johnson counties area. Volunteers are needed to be mentors and help increase a sense of belonging, self confidence and motivation in refugee youth. Mentors must be 21 or older to volunteer for this opportunity and successfully pass a background screening and training. Mentorships will have a commitment of one year where mentors will check in with their mentees virtually once a week and meet in-person at least once a month.
The ReConnect program will organize events every other month for all participants and mentors can attend when available. Together, you and your mentee will make a plan based on their goals in school, or a future career.
