Now Hiring: Director of Volunteer Management for Uncover Volusia County

Organization Summary: Formed in April 2013 by two friends searching for genuine impact, Uncover KC (UKC) focuses on building bridges between those who want to improve their community and those who need help doing so. Since that launch, UKC has recruited over 70,000 volunteers and helped them complete more than 168,000 service hours, leading to $4.2 million in valued impact for local organizations in the Kansas City Metro area. This collective impact is made possible through our civic engagement services and programs.

 

Position Summary: Behind the success of UKC, the organization is now expanding to Florida with Uncover Volusia County (UVC). For this new multi-site and multi-program affiliate, the Director of Volunteer Management will have an external facing role that oversees our volunteer management services and client relationships in the community. There is a heavy emphasis on people skills, community outreach and establishing standards of performance across all services provided.

 

Job Type: Independent Contractor

 

Compensation Range: $1,000 for 40 hours of work per month (10 hours per week)

 

Responsibilities:

Volunteer Management Services

    • Oversee recruitment, retention and recognition services for clients in a timely manner.
    • Lead community outreach for client events and projects.
    • Manage weekly updates surrounding clients’ management needs.
    • Schedule and facilitate volunteer orientation and trainings.
    • Schedule and manage recognition efforts including follow-up surveys, appreciation campaigns and possible events.
    • Maintain evaluation procedures and service metrics.
    • Update software processes and applications for clients or projects that need it.
    • Work with the UVC president to meet client needs.

Event Supervision

    • Lead community outreach for client events and projects.
    • Create and maintain accurate recruitment and volunteer databases.
    • Schedule and lead volunteer training sessions.
    • Manage weekly updates surrounding clients’ management needs.
    • Send out follow-up surveys and appreciation communications.
    • Maintain evaluation procedures and service metrics.

Team Leadership

    •  Attend monthly event committee meetings.
    • Provide timely communications to assigned committee volunteers.
    • Provide weekly staff updates.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the UVC President.
 

Qualifications & Characteristics:

    • High school diploma or higher preferred.
    • 2-3 years of experience in nonprofits, social services or leadership required; community organizing or volunteer management experience highly desirable.
    • Proficiency in social media platforms and Google Apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Hangouts, etc.
    • Knowledgeable of volunteer management and its corresponding 3 R’s — recruitment, recognition, retention
      Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Self-motivated individual with creative problem-solving skills; detail-oriented and task-focused.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet critical deadlines.
    • Displays good judgment, takes initiative and is eager to learn as much as to teach.
    • Responsive to direction and feedback; comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
    • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for UVC’s mission.
 

Work Environment:

  • This position operates primarily in a professional, collaborative office environment that is fully accessible.
  • This role uses standard office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, copiers, scanners).
  • The position is required to talk, hear, stand and walk, and to handle, feel and reach.
  • Access to reliable and flexible transportation required.
 

Work Schedule and Benefits:

  • 10 hours of work per week; 40 total per month.
  • $1,000 per month compensation.
  • This position will be based out of Daytona Beach, Florida, with the UVC office opened Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. though work is a hybrid of remote and location-based.
  • Occasional early morning or evening meetings plus weekend work depending on event commitments, as well as travel in the Volusia County region.
