Uncover KC is excited to power our first annual signature event — The Hunt. A team-based photo scavenger hunt through the streets of downtown Kansas City, this fun and engaging event is designed to help uncover your city. It will also highlight UKC’s service learning programs and raise funds to provide scholarships for these programs. Start forming your team and check back often for new details.

Event Details

  • WHEN: Saturday, April 1, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • WHERE: The Grand Hall, 1330 Baltimore Ave
  • WHAT: From 12-3 p.m. you’ll participate in a challenge based scavenger hunt through downtown KC capped by a post-party concert from 3-4:30 p.m. that includes live music by Flare Tha Rebel & Woodland Ave., food, drinks, raffle and winner prizes.
  • WHO: Teams consist of up to four members who will compete to accomplish the most challenges and garner the most points to win The Hunt. Additional points to be rewarded for team fundraising leading up to The Hunt. Individual tickets will also be sold for all non-Hunt participants and supporters.
  • WHY: This event is raising funds to support UKC’s service learning programs, like Discovery Education or World Building, and provide scholarships to teachers, classes or even entire schools.

Event FAQs

Participants will register as a team of 1-4 members for this photo-based scavenger hunt. The week of the event, teams can download Goosechase, The Hunt app, which will provide a list of all challenges along with their point totals. Teams will have three hours to complete as many challenges as possible. A photo uploaded to the app will serve as completion of each challenge. The team with the largest point total, combined with their fundraising challenges, will be our first ever The Hunt winner. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places.

You can have up to four members per team. You can also go solo if you wish.

Team registration fees will be the same for each team and will cover entry for 4 people, however you may compete with less participants if you choose. Or, we’re happy to pair you up with other non-complete teams if the opportunity is available. Just shoot us an email.

The Hunt will kick off at The Grand Hall 1330 Baltimore Avenue in downtown Kansas City. Teams are encouraged to complete their challenges in and around downtown and the Crossroads, The Hunt will culminate back at The Grand Hall for a super fun post-party.

A tentative schedule for the day includes team check-in at 12 p.m. with The Hunt following from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. The After Party, which will include prizes, food and beverages plus live music from Flare Tha Rebel & Woodland Ave., will last from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

All participants are encouraged to complete challenges via walking, Bird, streetcar, etc. but the method of getting around will be up to each team.

The Hunt will be rain or shine (or snow – let’s be honest, it’s Kansas City) so participants are encouraged to dress accordingly.

Individual tickets will also be sold for the After Party where you can come and celebrate our participants and enjoy great music and food and beverage. You can also donate to a team’s fundraising goal.

All net proceeds from The Hunt will go to supporting Uncover KC’s service learning programs: Discovery Education, World Building, and KC Field Trips. These funds will go towards providing scholarships and micro-grants to teachers, parents, or schools interested in these programs.
