Community Action Agency Poverty Simulation

The Community Action Agency of Greater Kansas City‘s mission is to assist low-income residents of Clay, Jackson and Platte Counties, Missouri to become self-sufficient by providing comprehensive supportive services.

Their upcoming simulation event, Community Action Poverty Simulations (CAPS),  gives participants a glimpse into the structural barriers people in poverty face.

Volunteers are needed to work at the “community” resource tables in which they will role-play the worker/employee at each “business”. Some of the roles available to play include a Healthcare worker/Doctor, Social Services Receptionist, Social Services caseworker, Childcare worker, law-enforcement officer, school teacher, and more. Training and orientation will be provided beforehand.
