December Produce Pallet Party
The mission of Kanbe’s Market is to provide access to fresh, affordable and healthy foods to people experiencing food insecurity. They do this through leveraging and enhancing existing parts of the local food economy and providing innovative food delivery systems to empower individuals to make healthier choices.
Volunteers are needed to assist at Kanbe’s Markets produce pallet party on Wednesday, Dec. 27th. Volunteers will help break down pallets of donated produce and sorting into one of their four redirection tiers:
- Healthy Corner Stores – providing access to fresh, affordable produce to areas that do not have access to it;
- Community Partners – donating produce to feed Kansas City food pantries and soup kitchens;
- Animal Feed – Kanbe’s nonprofit rescue farm to feed the animals;
- Compost – to ensure a zero waste facility, they compost what isn’t fit for consumption.
