UKC Now Hiring: Volunteer Management Coordinator

Position Summary: For this multi-site and multi-program organization, the Volunteer Management Coordinator has an external-facing role that assists with UKC’s volunteer management clients as well as an internal-facing role that works with the nonprofit’s volunteer management team of paid and volunteer staff. There is a heavy emphasis on people skills, community outreach and establishing standards of performance across all services provided.
Job Type: Full-Time Employee
Compensation Range: $38,000 annual salary plus full benefits packaging (upwards of $15,000)
Responsibilities:
Volunteer Management Services
- Assist with recruitment, retention and recognition services for clients in a timely manner.
- Lead community outreach for client events and projects.
- Assist with day-to-day updates surrounding clients’ management needs.
- Schedule and facilitate volunteer orientation and trainings.
- Schedule and manage recognition efforts including follow-up surveys, appreciation campaigns and possible events.
- Maintain evaluation procedures and service metrics.
- Update software processes and applications for clients or projects that need it.
- Work with a volunteer management team of paid and volunteer staff.
Event Supervision
- Lead community outreach for client events and projects.
- Create and maintain accurate recruitment and volunteer databases.
- Schedule and lead volunteer training sessions.
- Assist with day-to-day updates surrounding clients’ management needs.
- Send out follow-up surveys and appreciation communications.
- Maintain evaluation procedures and service metrics.
Team Leadership
- Attend monthly committee meetings.
- Provide timely communications to assigned staff and volunteers.
- Provide weekly staff updates as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the UKC Vice-President of Volunteer Management.
Qualifications & Characteristics:
High school diploma or higher preferred.
2-3 years of experience in nonprofits, social services or leadership helpful; community organizing or volunteer management interest highly desirable.
Proficiency in social media platforms and Google Apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Hangouts, etc.
Knowledgeable of volunteer management and its corresponding 3 R’s — recruitment, recognition, retention.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; strong written and verbal communication skills.
Self-motivated individual with creative problem-solving skills; detail-oriented and task-focused.
Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet critical deadlines weekly, sometimes daily.
Displays good judgment, takes initiative and is eager to learn as much as to teach.
Responsive to direction and feedback; comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for UKC’s mission.
Work Environment:
This position operates primarily in a professional, collaborative office environment that is fully accessible.
This role uses standard office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, copiers, scanners).
The position is required to talk, hear, stand and walk, and to handle, feel and reach.
Access to reliable and flexible transportation required.
Work Schedule and Benefits:
40 hours of work per week; 160 total per month.
$38,000 annual salary plus full benefits packaging total (upwards of $15,000). Benefits package includes:

The office is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. though work is a hybrid of remote and location-based.
Occasional early morning or evening meetings plus weekend work depending on client commitments, as well as daily travel in the Kansas City Metro area.
