UKC's 11th year of socktober
UKC is celebrating our 11th year (WOW!) of participating in Socktober – one of our favoirite drives to host for the KC area! We’re excited to continue making an impact to our local community and sharing warmth with those who need it most.
While there are many reasons to celebrate and love October — Halloween, Oktoberfest, Breast Cancer Awareness and more — it’s also the start of cooler temperatures and weather that can be hard to tolerate without appropriate attire. Socktober is an annual and national sock drive throughout October to aid the home-insecure and people in need, and encourage people to donate cozy socks to ensure the warmth of our more vulnerable community members. This drive is a great way to provide comfort to those who may not be able to enjoy the season.
Participation is easy — simply sign-up below with your friends, coworkers, neighbors or family and then begin collecting socks and other essential winter items throughout the month. This is a great way to get your loved ones and local community involved — you can even make it a competition to see who can collect the most items! When October ends, Uncover KC will reach out and take care of picking up the donated items and coordinate the delivery of them.
There are many things to love about October so let’s help all of our community members be comfortable and enjoy the chaning seasons. Join us in spreading joy and warmth to more people.
