UKC Now Hiring: Director of Programming

Organization Summary: Formed in April 2013 by two friends searching for genuine impact, Uncover KC (UKC) has held the same mantra since its beginning — create positive social impact through community engagement. That mission has led to nearly 50,000 volunteers completing more than 101,000 service hours, saving hundreds of Kansas City nonprofits nearly $2.6 million in the process.

This has been accomplished by establishing unique, creative connections with people and organizations to facilitate volunteerism (individual scheduling and nonprofit services), education (youth, adult and court service programs) and events (community-focused and social).

Position Summary: For this multi-site and multi-program organization, the Director of Programming has an externally facing role that manages educational programs and relationships in the community. There also is a heavy emphasis on team management and development, driving programming sales and establishing standards of performance across all programs.

Reporting to the UKC President, the director will be responsible for the operational success of UKC by ensuring seamless team management and development, program delivery, quality control and evaluation. The director, a key leader for UKC in the Kansas City community, helps bring in nearly $80,000 in funding for the organization through its programmatic work.

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $30,000 – $35,000

Responsibilities:

Program Management

  • Oversee the management and growth of three education programs: Discovery Education, Corporate Cares and Collaborative Courts. The first two work to increase service learning among youth and adults via school and business partners, while the third works to enhance diversion success with court partners.

  • Serve as the primary customer service contact for UKC program partners, which currently sits at 49 partners.

  • Duties involved within programs include: digital module creation, client communications and relations, scheduling and organizing of service outings/projects/drives, evaluation implementation, class/group presentations, impact report creation and update impact statistics.

  • Evaluate program effectiveness/efficiency and provide recommendations for growth.

  • Participate in sales development or pitches as needed.

  • Oversee the management of connectivity services for individual volunteers and nonprofits.

  • Visit and manage current and new relationships with other nonprofits and civic organizations. Represent UKC at meetings, fairs and other community events when needed.

  • As needed, provide program-focused feedback to other UKC initiatives — such as Collective Impact and World Building — plus staff members. For reference, the UKC Collective Impact model intentionally brings together different sectors and stakeholders of a community to solve a specific social problem; while the UKC World Building model is a vision casting process that maps out future community enhancements to develop present day social impact.

Leadership

  • Cultivate positive, working relationships with existing and new clients with the goal of ensuring sufficient space, resources and access to services.

  • Develop and implement strategies that will maximize the synergies among programs, services and staff.

  • Represent UKC in a positive, professional manner within the Kansas City community.

Team Management and Development

  • Schedule, inform and attend monthly Recruitment committee meetings.

  • Provide timely communications to assigned committees and update organizational scorecards.

  • Attend weekly staff meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the UKC President.

Qualifications & Characteristics:

  • AA required; BA or higher preferred.

  • 2-3 years of experience in nonprofits, social services or education required; community organizing or teaching experience highly desirable.

  • Proficiency in social media platforms and Google Apps such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Hangouts, etc.

  • Knowledgeable of Collective Impact and other community organizing models.

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-motivated individual with creative problem-solving skills; detail-oriented and task-focused.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet critical deadlines.

  • Displays good judgment, takes initiative and is eager to learn as much as to teach.

  • Responsive to direction and feedback; comfortable working in a collaborative environment.

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for UKC’s mission.

Work Environment:

  • This position operates primarily in a professional, collaborative office environment that is fully accessible.

  • This role uses standard office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, copiers, scanners).

  • The position is required to talk, hear, stand and walk, and to handle, feel and reach.

Work Schedule and Benefits:
