The Power of Collective Impact
"Collective Impact" is the power a group of people giving their time, talent or treasure through volunteering and its impact on a community.
However, Collective Impact isn’t just about helping your community, it’s also about volunteering to help create community. Here’s what Jenna, an Uncover KC volunteer and donor said, in her own words:
“My name is Jenna and I am a member of the Uncover KC Monthly Giving Club, just like you, I know that my monthly gift helps Uncover KC better execute their programs. One of my favorite programs is the Discovery Education program. This program provides students the opportunity and structure to become active leaders within their school and our communities. Uncover KC depends on donors like you and me for their programming. I am happy to give to an organization that works to make Kansas City a better place.”
At the beginning of this year, we educated our stakeholders about how we engage in Collective Impact through our programs, like the Discovery Education program, KC Field Trips and Volunteer Management. Working with volunteers and donors like Jenna, our Uncover KC programs help connect volunteers throughout the greater Kansas City area with community organizations and nonprofits to help achieve goals like promoting leadership skills with children or reducing homelessness.
This summer we also challenged our stakeholders to participate in the Summer Service Challenge. The purpose of this campaign was to get people involved at the grassroots level and volunteer at local organizations like Amethyst Place and Scraps KC. By taking action — by making the decision to volunteer or donate today — you can join us in our efforts to enable volunteers to continue to make a positive impact on our community. Summer Service Volunteer Challenge
Our Summer Service Volunteer Challenge asked our stakeholders to volunteer at different local organizations including Amethyst Place and Scraps KC. Volunteers took the time to get to know the clients at Amethyst Place and help tie-die shirts and play with kids. At Scraps KC, we helped sort and clean up different work areas and assisted guests.
